Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?

I am not talking about toys for kids under 3 - I can see how a battery might be considered a choking hazzard. I am talking about the toys I buy for my 6 and 7 year old boys. Yes, I am currently searching for a dumb screwdriver as we speak and silently cursing the toy industry. Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
I think its stupid too. You know whats worse? The 25 wire twist ties they put on the toys to keep them in place. What a joke. I get so pissed off and by the time I am finished, they dont want to play with it anymore. Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
it's in case you have a little kid in the house, not the one the toy is meant forWhy must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
because people are just now discovering how dangerous they can be, if you put them in a fire, if you eat one, if you let it corrode...Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
I know, right? Some idiot probably sued some company for something stupid he did and now the rest of us have to pay for it.

good luck finding that screwdriver. Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
I think its for safety reasons. Batteries can corrode or leak battery acid which can severely burn skin. This can happen if batteries are left in the toy for too long. Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
So that little kiddies can't open the case up, and eat the batteries (YUM!). :)Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
to make a parent's life even more difficult!!! the same reason the toy industry makes loud obnoxious toys.... secretly... they all want to see children torment their parents... and the screwdriver necesity... totally part of the conspiracy! i mean, how anxious was your kid to play with it? and when he found out it needed a battery? and he has to wait, you get the battery, and then you realize you need a screw driver and he has to wait longer? by now.. most kids are pissed and screaming.... its all a big mattell-fischer price-yadda-yadda conspiracy!!!Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
This is not to make your life more difficult or to annoy you! You should be grateful that the toy companies are trying to keep you and your children safe. Here is why they do this:

While batteries are not to be generally feared, they do contain a tremendous amount of stored energy. There is easily enough

energy in the 12 volt batteries we檙e talking about to melt a large screwdriver that is unfortunate enough to be dropped across

the battery terminals. A battery檚 fluid or electrolyte contains sulfuric acid which will not only cause severe burns, but will go

through clothing like I go through boiled crawfish. Unlike those myths told to young boys, the battery electrolyte really can

cause blindness if it gets in your eyes.

Batteries can emit corrosive fumes.

the real question is why do they have to use screws smaller than a 2 phillips. Why must all battery operated toys require a screwdriver to change the batteries now?
so that when the toy is bumping up and down the screw holds the batteries in place. its like if your child comes to you every 2 minutes cause the batteries keep coming out. there are some toys out there that don't have screws in them to hold the batteries. i think its much easier so that you can keep the batteries in the toy and not coming out every so often.
